EMDR | Trauma Therapy

EMDR, (Eye Movement Desensitize Reprocessing) is an evidence-based modality used to treat different mental health issues such as traumatic events, phobias, anxiety, PTSD, etc. EMDR is not traditional talk therapy and is considered a somatic and trauma-focused approach that consists of 8 phases. When a person experiences an event that has a lasting negative effect on the self, it may later show up in our lives as negative self-belief (I am not enough). By processing the negative experiences, a person may reduce negative emotions, body sensations, and negative self-beliefs to lead a more fulfilling life. If you have ever heard the saying “The body keeps the score”, EMDR is a great option to help get those past emotions and sensations unstuck and out of your body.

EMDR sessions can be done remotely or in person. I recommend 90-minute sessions for EMDR as 50 minutes may not always be enough time for processing.

EMDR may help treat:

  • Depression

  • Childhood Trauma

  • Sexual Assault

  • Microaggressions/ Racial Trauma

  • Phobia

  • PTSD/ Complex Trauma

  • Low Self-esteem

  • Community/Natural Disasters

  • Personal Blocks/ Restricting Beliefs

  • Chronic Pain
